WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE WORLD OF HEALTH?

There have been so many things going on in the world... Natural Medicine doctors in the US being killed for finding out about cancer enzyme in vaccinations, alternatives to chemo, Monsanto and their exploits, chemtrails, 5G and the list goes on... get educated on exactly what's happening.

Then there's life on the Homestead... what goes on day to day, chickens and eggs, plants, trees, fruit and veg, and what we're doing to prepare for simple living in the future... The future in action... life in the wilderness... what we're doing to gain self-reliance and independence from "the system".

VEGGIES... GROWING INFORMATION

Posted on October 29, 2018 at 12:25 AM Comments comments ()

We’ve had a lot of mixed results with our tomato growing over the years. Below is the picture of our tomatoes in early 2015. It was an incredible season with an abundance of beautiful fruit! Last year we decided to make the most of the incredible greenhouse Paul built. We got our seedlings ready nice and early and had them in the garden ready to go by mid September. We were incredibly proud of our efforts and efficiency. Unfortunately the tomatoes had other ideas... the cool weather stunted their growth and as a result they struggled right through the season. We’ve learned a lot in four years, and are still learning now.

Trial and error is all part and parcel of growing one’s own food, and every part of this vast country will be different. But there are some constants that you can put into practice that will give you a really good foundation for preparing your garden bed, and giving each vegetable the care it needs to thrive. I’d like to thank my friend Reg Blackmore for allowing me to share this information with you all. His many years of experience, and ability to clearly communicate his knowledge has resulted in this amazing webpage. Please have a look. Whether you’re a new kid on the block, or an old hand, I have no doubt you will find his information invaluable in your journey

FACEBOOK CENSORSHIP

Posted on October 27, 2018 at 11:40 AM Comments comments ()

PLEASE HELP...

Most of you would know that my business wouldn’t exist without the endless hours of work I do promoting on Facebook. I have told you all about pages and groups being removed without notice and years of work that has been lost. Since March this year I’ve had an ongoing battle with Facebook where my advertising in buy/sell groups has been blocked. Although it says my ads breach the rules, they are the exact same ads I have used for paid advertising with them without issue. Appeals are lodged, then closed by them without resolution or explanation.

We know that Facebook is notorious for censorship and is only getting worse now that it’s been handed over to be run by artificial intelligence, so it’s up to us to post and share the things we think are important to override the algorithms. Please share this blog to help people see what’s happening... but also please make sure you share and provide recommendations for all your local businesses if you are a Facebook user! This can now be done in every buy/sell group! Make use of this feature and share your positive experiences! As long as Facebook won’t let us advertise properly, we really need your help to do it for us!

Thankyou!

GARLIC

Posted on October 27, 2018 at 12:05 AM Comments comments ()

Another stunning garlic crop this year... currently in it’s visual prime and certainly not ready for harvest. In a month or so when the leaves start to go brown and die off is when they will be ready, but by the looks of it now, we’ll have a good healthy crop.

If anyone remembers our garlic braids from last year, we’ll be doing those again and making them available for purchase (pick up only), so keep your eyes peeled. Feel free to put in an advance order. They will be around the $40 mark and have around 1kg of garlic per braid... enough to keep most people for a full year. Message us or comment below to book yours

GO THE AVO

Posted on October 24, 2018 at 12:10 AM Comments comments ()

4 year old avocado grown from seed. This one seems to be going gangbusters! Loves the shaded position, It’s already as big as me. Sure it probably still won’t get fruit for another 4 years, but ironically it feels like only yesterday that I put this tree in as a little baby... I’m sure the next four years will race by just as quickly.

THERE'S REALLY MORE TO IT!

Posted on October 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM Comments comments ()

Since we've returned to the Homestead from Kookynie, Paul and I have been going great guns on sorting our seeds, preparing the garden beds for this season's crops, and focusing on tweaking the way we do things to ensure optimum results. As I've always said, everything we do at Homestead Health is about working out what we need to make our own lives the way we want it to be, then making it available to you. Obviously we need an income to survive, who doesn't, but there's so much more to it... and it's often the things people don't want to hear.

I'm sure we're not the only ones with our eyes wide enough open to see that there are alot of people in this world getting to the point where they're struggling. There are severe weather events taking place globally, with incredible amounts of people being killed, losing their homes and becoming displaced. Economies are crashing in so many countries, food then becomes scarce or too expensive and civil unrest results. We are living in the new world of globalism, and if you think that we are this protected island continent that's so far removed from all the problems, you haven't been looking closely enough.

Just this week on the news, there's talk about record high fuel prices at the bowser despite low "per barrel" prices. Electricity prices have increased to the point where some elderly people simply couldn't afford to heat their homes through the winter, and will probably not be able to cool them this summer either. The price of butter was $4 for 500g this time last year at our local Coles, if I try to purchase the very same brand and size today, it's a whopping $6.70, and when I made a complaint to Coles they blamed a "global butter shortage"... what a load of horse droppings! Perhaps it has more to do with the dollar a litre milk that forced so many dairy farmers to go bankrupt that we no longer have access to enough milk to make it... put simply, it was the destruction of the local market, and farming in general to force a more global market where we can be more easily controlled.

I'm not really fond of being dependent on "the system". Many of you will know that I spent a good 8 years on the disability pension. Every time the Government did a "cull" of the people on Centrelink benefits, I was in a major panic! I was a slave to the system, I had to jump through their little hoops, visit their doctors who did me not an ounce of good, take their medications which made me even sicker, and fit into their perception of what "sick" looked like to survive. Eventually I was victim to one of their culls, and they dumped me point blank. Not because I wasn't ill, but because I no longer agreed to take all the awful medication they had me on, and spend what little money they provided seeing one specialist or another for ineffective "treatment". So, I'm just another one of the many who the "system" has failed... and I'm so glad it did because I regained my freedom, and I simply don't want to go back to that kind of trap.

So with a miriad of things out of our own hands, how do we truly escape this system that has been built around us like a prison? It's not as difficult as it would first seem, although I don't know that we can ever completely escape it until the proverbial shit completely hits the fan. Until then, no matter what we do, we still have to pay rates, we still have to pay license and registration fees to drive, and the like. But we are really just putting our heads down and taking the time to look at the issues anyone could face in the current climate, and what we can do to protect ourselves... some of these are simple, and some difficult, but we are gradually taking steps to incorporate all these things into Homestead Health, so we can benefit, and so can you. Alot of it is becoming educated, and I don't mean by attending formal educational institutions, but more by re-learning all the things people did before "the system" existed, much like what we share on our Facebook page. How to grow and preserve your own food, building things yourself, setting up off-grid solar power (even if it's just enough to run your freezer and a few lights), having access to water outside of the standard water scheme and the like.

The thing that I believe makes Homestead Health so unique in our approach is that we do everything ourselves on an absolute shoestring budget. Everything we do is attainable by someone on a low income, and incredibly easy to duplicate. I try to share something pretty much every day about the simple things we are doing so you can see that it is a lifestyle choice, and it can be fun, exciting and incredibly rewarding! We know that a time may come where we have no access to doctors or medical facilities, this is covered by our Capules and Essential Oils. Although we are currently purchasing in many of the ingredients for these, we are also in the process of growning all the herbs, flowers, etc. required to make our own if need be. If we can't afford food, or it is unavailable for some reason, we have a good stock of staples (rice, pasta etc.) and all the seeds and preserved fruit, veg, herbs and spices to keep us going for now, and to continue to build further stores into the future. We have access to off-grid power and water, although we are certainly working on expanding in this area, and we spend every day working toward greater self-sufficiency. So when you read information we provide, it's not fanciful, or wishful thinking, it's not based on theory without the benefit of practice, and it's not just to have the benefits of running a business. It's just us putting our lives on show, so that whatever we've learned, you can benefit.

Honest information is not that easy to find these days. We've never had such instant access to information in the history of the world. Everyone who has an opinion, also has the ability to put it "out there" and make themselves sound like experts, even if what they are saying is 100% false. There's no way to know until you've tried it yourself and succeeded or failed. That's why we try to show you the proof of what we are doing and keep our information and our recommendations as genuine as we possibly can. Even when it comes to current events, issues with technology, and various elite agendas, we do our research thoroughly before passing the information on. It isn't unusual for me to be crunching capsules and listening to the latest YouTube videos until the wee small hours, often around 5 hours in a day... then I sift through all of that and bring you what I believe to be really important. What you'll notice though is that lately, my focus has been mainly on food, and what's been growing in the garden; Why? Because it's planting time, and it's really important not to miss the boat! If you decide in 3 months time that you want to grow some tomatoes, it will simply be too late. More than anything, the time has come where the rubber is really hitting the road. Rent costs are increasing, fuel, electricity and food costs are increasing, our local food supply is being wiped out and replaced with toxic imports from China or the Corporate giants, and it's really important to start learning what to do and how to do it before any chance has passed.

At the end of the day, you can spend $5.90kg on tomatoes, or you can buy a packet of seeds for $5, fill up your entire garden with the most glorious tasting, colourful heirlooms and have more tomatoes than you know what to do with for the entire season. If you're in a flat or unit, no problem, go buy a flexi-tub for $3.50 at Bunnings, drill some holes in the bottom and put it on your front porch... you'll never go back to shop bought tomatoes again! Add a few herbs and some capsicum and you've got a beautiful pasta sauce you can't beat. Then all you need to buy is a tray of mince and you have a beautifully healthy meal that costs you next to nothing, and the sense of acheivement is huge! But most of all, you will be able to make a meal for yourself when you may not have been able to otherwise. Then just save some of your seeds, dry them and use them for another crop the following year, because it's not just a packet of seeds, it's food for a lifetime... it's a pretty amazing deal for $5 really.

So by taking one small step at a time, you can make your life easier and more cost effective even now, and at the same time you can get all the information and practice you'll need to take care of yourself in the long term without having to rely on the limited choices that are stocked for you at the local shops. Best of all, you know what's in it, that it has no chemicals, that it's non-GMO, and that all the love you put into it every single day is now nourishing your body in return!

There is so much more to Homestead Health than just being a place to buy your capsules, we'd really love for you to share this blog, share our Facebook page, share everything we do, because further down the line, if we all do our part in growing our own food and being self sufficient, we may be able to swap, share and barter our resources and get out of the system all together, and that can only be a good thing!

HUNGARIAN WAX PEPPERS

Posted on October 22, 2018 at 12:15 AM Comments comments ()

As a result of wintering some of our capsicum plants in the greenhouse, avoiding die off, we’ve already got some beautiful Hungarian wax peppers ready to eat! I love it when an experiment goes right!

These lovely peppers are just like a capsicum, only small and long. They transition in colour from green to yellow, then orange and finally red. As you can see in the picture you can even pick them when there are multiple colours in the one pepper!

We are germinating more seeds as we speak... these will go into the garden beds in the next month or so and will start producing fruit around January through to June. They are available as part of our heirloom seed collection, so if you’d like some, comment below or click on the link to our webstore.

BOYSENBERRY BLOSSOM

Posted on October 20, 2018 at 12:20 AM Comments comments ()

Our first flower on the boysenberry... so beautiful & delicate. As prickly and invasive as these are, we have put many in pots because they are just incredibly delicious! With this sort of plant, just be aware of the issues and make adjustments to accomodate them! On the upside, it’s a great plant to deter would-be intruders climbing over your fence!

3 YEARS

Posted on October 18, 2018 at 12:35 AM Comments comments ()

3 years ago I planted some sage seeds. One single straggly plant grew. It was tender and nothing I did seemed to make it look any better. If I had taken any leaves from it there would have been nothing left. I removed it from the garden bed and put it in a pot... it perked up a bit in the second year and I was able to take a few leaves here and there. This year it’s come through the winter looking bushy and beautiful, displaying it’s first blooms! Now it’s been placed in a beautiful sunny position with a giant red gum log as a backdrop... what a difference a few years can make

Sheer joy! The girls are a layin’... back to home grown eggs... just can’t be beat!

APRICOTS...

Posted on October 16, 2018 at 12:40 AM Comments comments ()

In light of my recent success with germinating nectarines, I thought I might give these apricots a go. I’ve had the seeds for over 12 months, so was happy to see they were still viable when I cracked them open. All being well, I will hopefully have 32 new apricot plants in a few weeks! Fingers crossed!

TRUTH BANNED ON FACEBOOK

Posted on October 15, 2018 at 12:50 AM Comments comments ()

For anyone who has been trying to learn the truth about what’s really going on in the world and knows that all the “conspiracy theories” are real, the past 24 hours has been devastating. The whole “fake news” (ie. TRUTH) movement has been dealt a massive blow by our dear friends at Facebook in the name of “removing spam”.

Hundreds of pages, groups, personal and public profiles have been removed from the platform... namely those who are trying to sound the alarm on the incredible corruption in the media, politics, finance etc. Pages such as The Free Thought Project, that had in excess of 3 million followers has simply vanished overnight, but they are not alone! Read more details here...

For those who are reluctant to believe an independent media group, following is Facebook’s media release outlining their slant...

11 NECTARINES

Posted on October 15, 2018 at 12:50 AM Comments comments ()

We have an old nectarine tree here, maybe 10 years old that has the most magnificently sweet fruit! Last year we weren’t able to net it in time and the parrots got all the fruit before we did. 2 weeks ago I went to have a look and decided to collect and sort all the seeds left on the ground. I wound up with 14 seeds that I thought “could” be viable. So into pots they went. Today, I realised that I have a confirmed 11 new little nectarine trees shooting! I LOVE IT!

MEDJOOL DATE PALM... FROM SEED

Posted on October 13, 2018 at 1:20 PM Comments comments ()

This 2 year old Medjool Date palm has now reached it’s final location on the “mount of olives” on our block. It was my very first date propogated from the seed of a date we bought from the supermarket. I was shocked that it even sprouted, but 2 years on, it’s looking strong, healthy and robust.

I now collect all my seeds, and have another seven plants that sprouted last season, hoping for many more, although as I always say... it’s a numbers game! Generally I have to plant about 50 seeds to get 5 viable plants. Although one in ten is a fairly low “success rate”, it just means I have to eat more dates! I can handle that!

STUFFED PEPPERS...

Posted on October 11, 2018 at 1:25 PM Comments comments ()

m making fruit and cheese platters, these are an absolute MUST HAVE. I can eat an entire jar single handed! So when I found the seeds for these little beauties last year, it was a no brainer, I had to plant them in my garden and make my own! If you’re like me, then you too can get some of our pimiento seeds for your garden, head to the heirloom seed section of our webstore, or message us for free delivery if you’re local. Locals will also be able to purchase one of our advanced seedlings, they’ll be ready to go in a couple of weeks. Message us or comment below to reserve yours now.

PRETTY IN PINK

On our walk in the bush today we found this single little plant with such beautiful flowers... never seen it before. Love making new discoveries on old ground! I believe it’s so important to take the time every day to go for a walk, breath in the fresh air and get in touch with nature! It clears the mind, and can give you just enough detachment from the worries of your day that you can return a lot more functional and refreshed! And of course you’ll never know what beauty will be placed in your path

On many occasions I have reiterated the importance of doing your research in regard to use of Essential Oils. I have been an avid Oiler for over 35 years and have certainly seen a lot of things that would make your hair curl. I am often put down for apposing many “modern” practices, and am very deliberate in promoting “traditional” uses with the associated cautions.
